PostRe: Restaurante La Cabaña del Lago

Don Cuevas, I'm curious about Restaurante La Cabaña del Lago. I haven't heard about it and it sounds worth a try.

A couple of years ago, some friends took my wife and I to a Talapia Farm on the lake where they had a small restaurant that served every manner of talapia. It was great and inexpensive. Unfortunately, it was hard to find and I don't even have a name nor any good way to find it (except that I "saved" the location on my car GPS). It is almost exactly on the opposite side of the lake from Cuitzeo.

Jim, sorry I didn't see your question until now. (This really ought to go in "La Comida", but I'll be brief.)

I read about La Cabaña del Lago from something written by "Felipe Zapata" in one his many guises.
The "New" Felipe Zapata's blog is here. http://zapatatales.wordpress.com/
The Old Felipe Zapata blog is here: http://www.tzuru4.blogspot.com/

He claimed that it was the best fried shrimp he'd ever had in Mexico, even beating Mariscos La Güera in Pátzcuaro. So, on the way back from a visit to SMA, we stopped. It resembles an old fashioned tourist court in the U.S. The view of the Lake is o.k. The shrimp were quite good. Whether thay were better than Mariscos La Güera's is debatable. We thought they were fine. Perhaps not worth a special journey, but a nice spot to stop if you are in the area.

Many thanks, Don.... I'll check the links. I also need to try Mariscos La Güera in Pátzcuaro. While I like shrimp, my wife LOVES it, so any great options in our area need to be investigated. We had some excellent camarones at La Jaíba here in Morelia, which I think is a place you've commented favorably about as well.
