While it's not mandatory for registered users to fillout the optional items in their profile, it's nice to have a bit more info in order to get to know each other better.

With that said, I'm going to visit my profile next to see if I can flesh it out more without revealing intimate things, such as my brand of deodorant.

I just checked. I have mine mostly filled-out except for job/hobby because I don't really have either.

I couldn't find where to put in my deodorant brand. Brut spray, BTW.

Would you like me to set it where the comments stay in the profile and not appear in your msg ID block?

I tweaked mine a bit and when I have some more time, I will add on to it. Since I am not into Facebook or any of the other social sites, too much info takes one into that realm IMO.

I trimmed-down what shows up in the msg ID block so that much of the profile info is only in the profile. Probably better like this??

Yes, if I understand that correctly. Further explanation may be needed for clarity.

There are two places where personal information shows up, on your profile and in your posts' ID. I can set things to show on one or the other, none of the above, or both. Most of your profile is in "comments" which showed-up in both. I put that in profile-only, if you prefer. Same with age and birthday, those are in profile-only but your Chinese birth year animal is in the msg's.

Being a charter member of such a board means I can customize and set technical policy as those members request, You have a choice in matters at this stage, at least a voice. There is a WYSIWYG feature I haven't tried yet. I would if someone asks for it.

"WYSIWYG feature I haven't tried yet. I would if someone asks for it."

I know I can be dense at time but have no idea what this means!

I kind of liked it when the Don had all his verbiage showing. Might be kind of fun to see some of the "border promotions"!

WYSIWYG = What You See Is What You Get. I believe it works when you are preparing a post. There would be no need to preview it because it would already contain the instructions (BB code as seen in brackets). I expect this would make it operate like on MexConnect's board. The only drawback is that we might have less control than we do now generating our own code, but it would likely be easier to use.

It looked kind of jammed when in the small space under the avatar. If it is a keeper for that space I can maybe add a separator line or something of that sort. It may look redundant if it appears on every post. Depends on what everyone wants.

True but think how many former corporate Presidents, CEO's, Diplomats, Generals, etc you would have to give your new forum cred!

I should have realized that you being younger would use the shortened version to communicate. One way to stay young! Kind of like using smiley faces to communicate without having to use the written word to communicate? Yes, I can be guilty of using a few but only when I thing they are clever like "YMMV". Smiley faces never! One of my per peeves are those that shorten Guadalajara to Guad on other forums. Nothing but being lazy in my opinion! If anything use GDL which is the proper designation for the airport. Yes, I may be being picky but is it San Miguel or San Miguel de Allende or is it Santa Clara or Santa Clara del Cobre?

OK, here's the compromise. I want to leave the comment block as a profile-only entry BUT I have set the Jobs/Hobbies as an entry that gets put in both displays. I have given that text block up to 15k characters of space which satisfy any Bush-Reagan-era CEO and war veteran - though Reagan's big war was Grenada.

Now, with all that space available the Don has written only "retired" so if we can talk him into moving his "creds" into the Jobs/Hobby slot then it will all come back.
