| I've noticed that when I reply to a post, the new form that comes up has a blank subject line, rather than the original post title. Can this behavior be chaged so that the OP title appears in the header of my reply?
Also, I haven't really figured out the URL insertion thing. When I click the URL icon, it puts [url][/url} at the end of my text, rather than at the insertion point where I directed it. But that could be a browser problem, as the same thing happens on Mexconnect when I use Safari 5.0.3 for Mac. Probably wouldn't happen in Firefix or Chrome. I haven't tried them yet with this forum.
Previewing: sometimes it works, sometimes I get an error message.
How long a time can we edit our posts?
Just a few questions, no big rush for answers.

| Yes. I can and did set it to give a new subject line option. As often as I myself have hijacked threads or played word games by altering subject lines on other boards I thought I would open that option. Of course if you don't make an entry on the line and leave it blank then the original subject line stays as the header on your reply. If the current option doesn't work for you I might consider changing it if you ask me again later.
I'll have to try the url selection to see. On some versions or set-ups of this BBS program I have had to type my BBS coding into my posts, so I have a habit of doing that instead of using some highlite-and-select function keys. That gives me more versatility that way as I might use a {url=xx word I select] type of command to make the link part of the text, etc. But like I said, I still have to try it here. Same for the preview feature.
I believe you can edit anytime with no cut-off. If you edit too many times or edit after another reply has been made it will put an edit tag and time stamp at the end of your post. You can induce an edit tag by entering a reason for the edit.

| I need to correct the URL info I gave earlier. First let's understand that we should use the brackets [] around our command but that I will substitute a { or } on one side or the other so I don't make an actual code in this post that the board will try to follow, and use plain English in the address for example so I don't create a link that goes nowhere. To post a link you can just enter it in and the board will recognize it and automatically make it active. No hassle. To rename the link witha word or phrase it goes like this, substituting the brackets at beginning and end: {url=http://address.location] Name of word or phrase to appear instead of link text[/url} It seems to break-up a quoted post to insert you reply between the quotes you may need to supply the quote command at the break point - {quote] yadda yadda yadda[/quote} In BB code use the command in brackets at the beginning of what you are coding, then use the slash (/) before the command to end the coded passage. to put something in bold or italics use: {i]italics[/i} or {b]bold[/b} or without using the subsitutions in the examples italics or boldThere are supposed to be buttons and keys in these BBs to do these things without typing it manually but I find some versatility in using manual coding. I really don't use a lot of it and plain test works well for me most of the time, If you use the buttons here for bold, italics, etc., you will see it put in this coding before you preview or post it. BTW, I tried the "preview" feature and had no problems with it so it could be a browser problem. It may seem like a lot of BS to go and learn but one becomes a better blogger if they know some of this. The BB codes are really not difficult and can find all the BB codes info with a Google search. For right now here is Wiki's entry about BB code but it is not extensive information - there is a code for everything it seems. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]BTW, this is a reply to Don Cuevas but it really is intended for all members here. I can demo more on these subjects if anyone is interested enough to ask for it. It would be my pleasure to help with this tech stuff where I can. -Pete

| Subject: Down sizing embedded photos? Sun 27 Feb 2011, 05:34 | |
| After posting several embeded photos, (linked to my Picasa Web Album), I see that they are huge when they appear here. Short of editing every one at the source (which I'm loath to do), is there a way for them to appear smaller within the AMIGO Forum? Example photo: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Huevos albañil at La Surtidora | |

| For the time being I have come to the conclusion this type BB will not take any resizing commands. I have tried the normal methods I know for doing that. It appears your photos are showing up in normal lifesize. The camarrones you posted yesterday looked so good and lifelike that I immediately awarded another point for those. I personally have no problem with the photos being this big, it just makes thing look so much more tasty, but I will look into it more and see if there is a solution so that resizing commands will work.
I know you are reluctant to edit down your photos into a preferrable size (for who?) but barring that, and something I would be even more loathe to do, you could order smaller portions.

<Smile>. Actually, we usually order the smaller portions at Mariscos La Güera .

| Since the issue of photo insertion has been raised - I need some help figuring it out for this forum since they are all different. On the top bar, there are two buttons: 1) Host an Image, or 2) Ïmage. The Host an Image feature seems to have an auto resize to it but so far, this dummy hasn't been able to figure it out. I am assuming that the Image button would be for doing a direct paste of an image but again I haven't been able to make it work????
Peter: Re: Your comment about not caring about the size of photos may backfire down the road. On most of these type forums, within your admin control panel there is usually a setting for the max size picture you will allow. The reason for this feature is that most forum hosting outfits only allow a certain amount of free file storage. Past experience is that it is generally somewhere around 100MB. If your forum goes over the limit, they either want payment for more storage or they will start deleting photos usually by oldest ones first.

In our case it is only 20mb which is about enough for me to manage a couple front page photos and little more. For that reason the image has to exist and be obtainable elsewhere on the net. I believe MexConnect has the same type of policy. Uploading to this site is an admin option only. Not sure about avatar photos, mine on here is a library pic.

| I believe I have a solution for our photo size problem. It should now automatically resize to to 640x480 then there is a tab to click to show actual size. I think it looks OK like this now. Tell me what you think about it. | |

| So for this dummy - can you post instructions on just how you are able to accomplish this task? | |

The problem for me is always remembering later how or where I was able to do something so I could either undo it or do it again, there are just so many sub-menus within menus within categories. In the admin task section, probably under the Display category, I found a setting for photos-sizing that had a label for width and height with a note that minimum was 100 for each. I tried a setting of 640x480, not that I knew what I was doing or what it meant but that it sounded familiar, and that seemed to give me an optimum size for comidas and platos. I basically would have to go looking for it again, opening a couple sub-menus when I thought I was getting warm, and see if it looked familiar. I gave you as many clues in the above paragraph as I can remember so that now puts you at about equal footing with me. Buena suerte. BTW, I edited your entry about the hotel in Pátzcuaro just slightly, the link to the hotel, I eliminated the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] part so it would fit on one line in the news box widget. Otherwise it caused the box to go wide and mingle with the board menu. It took me awhile to figure out why only that post created a wider-than-usual box than the others. Removing that part did not hurt your link though, and the only reason I mention it is because it is comical the mental gymnastics to resolve the problem. Not sure if the widgets are worth having but it does give an "info group" look to the page.
