Lunch at La Jaiba on Blvd. Garcia de Leon #937, mariscos restaurant in col. Chapultepec Sur. One of Morelia's favorite mariscos restaurants, moderately-priced. Wednesday, 23 March 2011 at 2pm. A weekly get-together with Amigos FWB in Morelia.

La Jaiba has limited off street parking on the next street north, Batalla de Casa Mata. http://goo.gl/maps/5uWg

La Jaiba is one of our favorite seafood rrestaurants in Morelia. I think the prepared shrimp dishes are expensie (al mojo, al mango, etc) but the cocteles are terrific.
I blogged about it back in 2008: La Jaiba-Eat Here and Get Crabs, and it's been mentioned favorably in other related posts.

A group suggestion (although we almost certainly be there.): a mariscada. a large platter of mixed seafood, made up according to your desires. I've been curious about this ever since I saw a large family order it.

Other marisquerías of Morelia that we've liked:
Langostikos, a very relaxed and informal setting, sort of like being at the beach, on Av. Santamaría, not far from Star Médica. The best thing on the menu is the Sopa de Ostiones prepared tableside. The filetes creations, although more inventive than average are usually boring in the final analysis. Still, a fun place, and you can get cocos fríos, if that's your thing. (Not mine.) Old Review

El Pescador, Av. Cuautla #77, about a block or so south of Av. Madero, Centro.
A class act, old line sort of place. You can actually get Jaibas Rellenas there, something not available at even "La Jaiba"!

Jaibas Rellenas: not for crabby or picky eaters.
